Personal Statement For Purpose - 965 Words
I have great pleasure in enclosing my CV in response to your advert on the University of Leicester Museum Studiesââ¬â¢ Jobs Desk for a London Coordinator (Sculpture) for Art UK Sculpture. As a passionate supporter of our national and regional cultural heritage, I thoroughly enjoy working with objects, ideas and stories, inspiring other to engage with art. I have long-standing knowledge of London, having lived - in North, South and West London - and worked in the Capital for many years, and I am familiar with many of Londonââ¬â¢s diverse galleries and museum collections. The position of London Coordinator (Sculpture) for Art UK Sculpture offers an exciting opportunity to bring together my proven project coordination, administrative,â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦My academic background is multi-disciplinary; I studied art history, archaeology and anthropology. I hold an MA in the Arts of Europe and my PhD focuses on the social, cultural and economic history of Mediterranean red coral in Qing China, including its use in Chinese sculpture. The University of East Angliaââ¬â¢s School of Art History and World Art Studies encourages the development of new perspectives on the familiar. For example, I was able to introduce fresh ways of considering the post-WWII history of the Cambridge University Botanic Garden, as well as encouraging debate about the contemporary role of a Botanic Garden. During my MA year, I volunteered for the Public Monuments and Sculpture Associationââ¬â¢s (PMSA) Public Sculpture of Norfolk Suffolk project. Our group focused on the outdoor sculpture at Houghton Hall and Holkham Hall in North Norfolk. We inspected, measured and photographed the monumental sculpture and collated the survey data. In 2013, I undertook an internship with the University Cambridge Museumsââ¬â¢ Connecting with Collections programme, funded by Arts Council East and the AHRC. Through this scheme, I developed and managed a research project at the Botanic Garden (CUBG).
